Surface Pro 3 gets new firmware to protect against Meltdown and Spectre

PSA: If you’re still using a Surface Pro 3, know that Microsoft has this week released a firmware update to protect the 2-in-1 device from the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities.

Microsoft’s Brandon Records:

We’ve released a new driver and firmware update for Surface Pro 3. This update includes new firmware for Surface UEFI which resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft security advisory 180002.

Surface Pro 3 owners can download this 184MB update (file name: SurfacePro3_Win10_15063_1801002_3.msi) from the Surface Pro 3 Drivers and Firmware page at the Microsoft Download Center.
