Android P will prevent apps from spying on you with your camera or microphone

If you're worried about apps spying on you through your camera or microphone, here's some good news: Android P will include code that will prevent idle apps from using either the camera or microphone. If an inactive program tries to use the camera, Android P will shut it off and give you an error message. With the microphone, it's a little more complicated: Android P will allow recording but report empty data until the app is active. It needs to be done this way so that malicious apps can't record anything in the background, but legitimate apps like a voice chat client (which needs to stays active) shouldn't have an issue.

Take note though, Google hasn't even announced Android P yet, so it will still be a while until these features become available.
